Ask Flex / Automating repetitive tasks

Ask Flex

Can I automate my job?

Parts of it. The repeat parts.

What it looks like

"Office coordinator. Eight hours of... everything."

"Weekly report. Same five emails. Sign-ups into the sheet. Two judgment calls."

What can be handed off

"No idea. It all feels like me."

"The first three. The two calls stay mine."

An example. Your job, your list.

Flex's short answer

Parts of it, yes, and the parts you do the same way every single time are the ones to start with, like the weekly report, the standard email and the typing from one place to another. The parts where someone has to decide, judge or talk to a person stay yours, and that's usually the part you were hired for.

✱ Flex's tips

Find the repeats.

1

Track one week

Write down every task. Rough minutes.

2

Circle the repeats

Same steps every time? Circle it.

3

Hand off one

The circled one that eats the most time.

4

Keep the calls

Deciding and talking to people stay yours.

Try this in your own Claude or ChatGPT

Here's everything I did at work this week, with rough minutes next to each: [list it]. Sort it into three piles: things I do the same way every time that AI could draft or do, things AI could help with but I need to finish, and things that need me. Add up the minutes in each pile and tell me which one task to hand off first.

Before you paste work stuff into any AI, check what your company allows.

If this comes back every week, the free Lab shows you how to hand it to Claude.
